Avoid Bad Breath On Your Date

Prepare before you date

OK nobody should need to be told this, but there are apparently some men in the world who need to be reminded; Always shower, shave and brush your teeth before you go on a date. Every date not just the first date. And clean clothes are not optional. If you want to go for the grunge look, do it with clean grungy clothes. OK?
As part of your date preparations always; brush, floss and mouthwash. And if you want to make really sure a tongue scrapper will finish the job. So now your mouth is clean and your breath is fresh when you leave the house, don’t stop off for a chili cheese dog on the way!
Another piece of advice boys; Don’t offer your date a freshmint the first time you meet them. Else they are going to spend the rest of the date thinking “Does he think I have bad breath?”. Which will change to; “Do I have bad breath?” And her thoughts might finish off the date by becoming “Who the hell is he to say that my breath stinks!” Which is not going to get you a second date.

On Your Date

If you are going to dinner don’t order foods with strong tastes. Onions and garlic are the most common examples of foods with strong odors that can remain on your breath for a long time. It has always been good advice when on a date to never order anything with garlic unless your date is also ordering a garlic based dish. And the same can be said for any strong tasting dish.
But if you are going Tex-Mex and you are both going to be eating chili fries and tacos then you have got yourself covered.
Don’t forget desert. If you go for a rich heavy desert and your date doesn’t the clash of flavors might jar that first kiss. Light sweet and minty deserts are probably your best bet.
And always drink plenty of water when you eat.

Smokers and Non-Smokers

If your date smokes and you don’t, or vis versa, this is also going to be a problem.
Different non-smokers have different tolerances for dating smokers, from total avoidance to thinking it is sexy. Most people are somewhere in between these two extremes, with how strongly they are attracted to the other person being the determining factor.
It’s not a make or break issue. I know of many couples where one partner smokes and the other doesn’t. It can work

Oral Hygiene Date Plan

  • Always brush, floss and mouthwash before you leave the house
  • Optionally suck a freshmint to keep your breath fresh (Finish it before you meet you date).
  • If you are going to dinner Don’t order anything with garlic, or any strongly flavored food, unless you date does too.
  • Drink plenty of water while you eat.
