Sometimes an individual is completely unaware of the problem until informed by a member of the family or a friend. Suffering from chronic bad breath can be a cause of embarrassment. There are many causes of bad breath including oral bacteria, foods, smoking, dentures, and dry mouth. Each of these different causes of bad breath will be related to either chronic or short-term bad breath, before starting on any cure for bad breath, it is very important to identify the causes behind it, once the root cause for bad breath is identified, you can work out what needs to be done to overcome the problem.The bacteria in plaque produce volatile sulfur compounds that smell like rotten eggs. These bacteria are also responsible for causing loss of the bone that holds your teeth in your jaw. Dry mouth is a condition that can cause short-term or chronic bad breath because moisture helps to clean the tissues of the mouth these bacteria break down material in the mouth and produce foul smelling compounds as a byproduct. This is not a practical answer, as the bacteria are naturally occurring and required by the body to pre-process food before it passes to the stomach. The main cause of bad breath may be due to bad dental hygiene, bacteria in mouth, infection, diabetes, drugs, gum disease, liver disease, smoking and tooth decay.

The smell is basically of a sulfurous nature, and is transferred to the blood, then to the lungs, where it is exhaled. The most obvious of the home remedies for bad breath (halitosis) is simply attending to excellent oral hygiene. Bad teeth Rotting teeth are an obvious cause of halitosis. The first thing is to brush your teeth twice a day and clean your tongue properly. Flossing your teeth is also a good way of avoiding bad breath. Removing rotting food from between your teeth will significantly improve your oral hygiene. If bad breath is a persistent condition, seek consultation with a dentist. It may be a sign of a more serious dental issue or gum disease.
